During the fall, several LEAD companies have been granted funding within two strategically important Vinnova calls. Together, the initiatives reflect both Sweden’s increasing need for technology for defense and security, and the rapid development towards more sustainable energy systems.
Previous participants in LEAD’s civil-military accelerator program – I-CONIC Vision, Synclair Vision and Cube Squared, as well as LEAD companies Grafren and Dubblett have all been granted funding within Vinnova’s call for needs-driven defense innovation for the transparent battlefield.
The initiative is part of the Civil-Military Innovation Program, a joint effort by Vinnova and the Swedish Armed Forces to strengthen Sweden’s technological action, innovation capacity and defense capacity.
LEAD alumni Ligna Energy has also been granted funding from Vinnova. The call Upscaling for a sustainable battery value chain supports projects that drive industrial implementation of technologies that can contribute to a more sustainable, resilient and circular battery economy in Sweden.
– Vinnova’s funding gives the companies the opportunity to take decisive steps towards the market, industrial upscaling and social benefit. The fact that several of our companies receive support in both defense technology and sustainable energy systems shows breadth, relevance and quality. It is inspiring to see how the companies contribute to Swedish competitiveness and future security,” comments LEAD’s CEO Catharina Sandberg.
