Linköping-based Polar Light Technologies has successfully completed a fully subscribed funding round of SEK 34.4 million. The company is now moving into the commercialization phase, with the goal of bringing its revolutionary MicroLED technology to market in 2026.

Swedish startup Polar Light Technologies has developed a patented method that integrates all three primary colors-red, green and blue-on the same chip. This innovation enables smaller, more energy-efficient displays with superior color rendering, which could transform the future of AR/VR solutions, displays and consumer electronics.

– It is fantastic that we have a Swedish company that has made such progress in this area and we are very pleased with the investors’ great confidence in Polar Light Technologies, says Catharina Sandberg, CEO of LEAD.

The recently concluded funding round, in which both existing and new investors participated, includes Stoaf SciTech, Almi Invest, Sustainable Energy Angels, Butterfly Ventures, LiU Invest and J2L Holding.

A technological breakthrough that attracts market interest

In December 2024, the company achieved a crucial breakthrough – red emission at 625 nm . By using the same material for all colors, instead of separate structures, Polar Light Technologies has eliminated many of the complexities that limited the development of MicroLED technology.

– We are now entering an intensive phase where we are building on our technological lead and preparing for market introduction in 2026,” says Oskar Fajerson, CEO of Polar Light Technologies.

With the strong market interest and continued support from investors, the company is planning a larger funding round in 2026 to enable a full-scale market launch.
