Today, Ny Teknik’s 33 list of Sweden’s most innovative and young technology companies was released. Both LEAD company MicroDri and LEAD alumni Westra Materials graced the list.

Every year, Ny Teknik selects Sweden’s 33 most promising young technology companies, an honorable appointment that highlights new companies with the potential to become future stock market giants and export successes.

First on the list is the LEAD company MicroDri, which uses microwaves to dry and heat wood materials. The advantages over traditional drying include lower energy consumption, shorter drying times and the ability to integrate drying into the assembly line at sawmills and other industries.

Founder and CEO Victor Borén comments:

– It feels very honorable to be selected. It is a recognition of the hard work put in by the team.

LEAD alumni Westra Materials also made the list. The company focuses primarily on binders for lithium-ion batteries and high-performance polymers for capacitors. The material can replace polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) – the dominant binder for lithium-ion batteries today. The technology is based on research from Linköping University.

– “This is proof that we have a product that has great value, both commercially and for the environment. Several impressive companies have been on the list before, including several from LEAD, and it is great that we are now in that club,” says Daniel Westling, CEO of Westra Materials.
