Linköping-based medtech company Cordicity has completed an oversubscribed seed round totaling SEK 7 million. The capital will be used to strengthen the team, continue clinical validation and drive regulatory activities for CE marking and commercialization of the company’s first product.
The investment round was led by Almi Invest and East Sweden Capital, with follow-on investments from LiU Invest. New investors in the round are Cygne Invest, Henrik Lewander Invest and Management, HMBV and MThor Holding.
– The intersection of advanced technologies and tangible patient benefits holds great potential. With this investment, we take a clear step towards clinical launch and strengthen our ability to contribute to more accurate decisions in cardiac care,” says Linus Ohlsson, CEO and co-founder of Cordicity.
Cordicity is developing a platform for more personalized stroke risk assessment in patients with atrial fibrillation. Today, risk assessment is often based on general clinical scoring systems, which can make it difficult to capture the actual risk of the individual patient. The company’s technology uses existing cardiac CT data to provide more patient-specific decision support, with the goal of contributing to better treatment decisions and preventive care.
According to the company, the demand for more precise and personalized decision support in healthcare is expected to increase, driven by the growing global burden of cardiovascular disease and rapid developments in advanced imaging and AI-based analytical tools.
The company is now in an early commercialization phase focusing on clinical validation studies, regulatory preparations and pilot collaborations with healthcare providers and strategic partners. Cordicity has also received research and innovation funding, including from Vinnova.
– “We are very excited to have such a strong group of investors with us in this next phase of growth. The funding will enable us to accelerate product development and get closer to creating clinical benefits for both patients and healthcare providers,” says Linus OhlssonCEO and co-founder of Cordicity.
