By combining advanced sensor technology with a flexible platform, LEAD company Neue enables rapid innovation and digitalization in healthcare. The company has now initiated two strategic partnerships – one with Region Östergötland to improve medication monitoring in psychiatry, and one with Hallins to improve food transportation to hospitals.
Region Östergötland has chosen Neue to develop an innovative IoT solution that improves adherence to medical treatment in psychiatry. The project, run by the Psychiatric Clinic in Linköping and funded by Vinnova, aims to give healthcare professionals better insights into patients’ medication intake through smart sensors.
By using an IoT sensor, healthcare professionals can gain insights into a patient’s medication intake and detect abnormalities at an early stage. This creates opportunities for faster and more preventive interventions, which can lead to fewer acute conditions and risk of readmissions.
–Traditionally, medication monitoring has been based on patient self-reporting or irregular care encounters. With this solution, healthcare providers can get objective data in real time, making it possible to detect deviations before they lead to deterioration,” says Fredrik Wanhainen, CEO of Neue.
The solution is based on the Neues iENBL sensor, which uses motion sensors and mobile connectivity to enable accurate recording of movement patterns. The technology has the potential to revolutionize not only psychiatry, but also other medical fields where adherence to treatment is critical, such as rehabilitation after stroke or treatment of chronic diseases.
Digitizing hospital logistics: Smart food transport trolleys for hospitals
While Neue is driving innovation in psychiatric care, the company is also making great strides in hospital logistics. Together with Hallins, Neue has developed an IoT-based food transportation solution for Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark’s largest hospital project. The solution integrates Neue’s technology into over 300 carpet transport trolleys, enabling remote operation, optimized energy consumption and preventive maintenance.
– This project shows how quickly we can integrate IoT technology into existing products to create immediate value. Through our Playground platform, we can easily customize features according to customer needs and enable smarter and more sustainable hospital logistics,” says Fredrik Wanhainen.
With the first 40 trolleys already delivered and more on the way, this is a solution with great market potential. Discussions are underway to standardize the solution in all Hallin trolleys and expand to more hospitals in the Nordic region.
